Experiænce Sessions 2007

Chromatics (2010)

A sonic journey through mind and space you will not forget! The Experience that is Candle returns with the fourth studio album, Chromatics. Originally recorded as part of the 2010 February Album Writing Month challenge, the fourteen songs of Chromatics were written & recorded in twenty eight days.

Chromatics is a concept album built around the idea of the musical chromatic scale. Each song on the album is written in a different key with the order progressing along the length of the chromatic scale itself. Even the song titles reflect this concept as each one uses the note names of the scale for their own nomenclature. The majority of the songs were recorded “live to tape” in one take without the use of overdubs added in post production It is this “live to tape” method that Candle has used as a primary mode of recording since 2005.

Moments Of Beauty (2012)

Candle’s fifth full length studio album featuring eleven songs written during the 2012 edition of February Album Writing Month. All are one-off live improvisations using guitar, vocals & keyboards.

The concept of the album was to create soundscapes based on the idea of Beauty. Candle challenged friends, family, fans & fellow musicians to come up with song titles or stories which would serve as inspiration for the tracks. Candle received numerous replies & was able to incorporate the stories and song titles into the songs written during FAWM. Moments Of Beauty features the best songs from that process.

Vibrations (2014)

What does it take for the Individual to achieve their Higher Self? This is a question asked of the listener of Candle’s latest studio album Vibrations. Written in February 2014 as part of the annual online song writing challenge February Album Writing Month, Candle’s sixth studio album is the result of a new method of composing music. Looprication, a fellow FAWM participant, writes of Ochran – song number six from the album: “That sine wave start is like the gateway between worlds, a patient flat-lining, but opening the door to another existence. Very much the music you’d expect to hear creeping around in the catacombs of some ancient, undiscovered place by torchlight.”

Heartbeat (2014)

Is the heartbeat of the Earth like the heartbeat of your soul? This is a question asked of the listener of Candle’s single Heartbeat. Heartbeat is the lead-off single from Candle’s forthcoming sixth studio album: Vibrations.  This new music was written in February 2014 as part of the annual online song writing challenge February Album Writing Month. It is the first time that Candle has experimented with a different composing & recording method.  Odilongreen, a fellow FAWM participant, writes of Heartbeat: “Very atmospheric and contemplative, and I like the way the lead synth is presented as a bit ‘off’ (or, more appropriately, ‘unusual’) in its timing. This has a very ‘future’ feel to it, but is still rock-music-like enough to be pretty accessible. Very intriguing composition.”
